How much is $100 donation to salvation army worth in the tax return?
Q. I will be donating some items to salvation army soon. I itemize and I am not sure that if I donate $100 to the salvation army in worth of good, how much do I get back, how does it work? Do I actually get back the whole $100 or is it $100 times my tax bracket?
Asked by proyo y - Mon Jun 25 15:08:46 2007 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. You definitely don't get back the whole $100. If you itemize, you'd get the $100 times your tax bracket, so maybe $15 or $25. If you don't itemize, then you don't get anything off your taxes for the donation.

Christians is your salvation at risk if you do not forgive others?
Q. Matthew 6:14-15 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Note only Christians have an heavenly Father. What happens to your salvation if you do not forgive others? Can you get into heaven if you are not Forgiven? Is then salvation also dependent upon a action on you part? So then " Faith + Works (us forgiving others) = final salvation ? Please answer this for me. Thank you!

A. I would contact you area Chamber of Commerce and ask them why they aren't promoting this within your community..they would have the best resources as to why and hows of it all. My county has 1, they are considering a second one because it is becoming over loaded to the point they are paying to have items placed in the dumpster.. and those bills add up quickly.. They really are wonderful resource sites for those who need a cheaper priced item in furniture to computer items.. to clothing, dishes, etc.. And a wonderful place for people to give their items of value when they don't sell at a yard sale! Q. Why do some churches teach that baptism is necessary for salvation, for example the Church of Christ, while other churches teach that baptism is just a public ceremony to celebrate becoming a Christian, but is unnecessary for salvation? Who is right? Justify your answer based on what the bible says.

How do you buy a car from the salvation army?
Q. We need a second car for both my husband and I to drop our kids off at daycare and go to work. We figured out our bills and can olny aford the insurance on another car, not another car payment. I have heard that people donate their cars to the salvation army and was wondering who they sell them to and what I need to do to buy one. Or if anyone in the lansing mi area that has a cheap, good running one for sale, I would be willing to look at it.

A. The vehicles donated to the Salvation Army, St.Vincent De Paul and Volunteers of America are actually sold on car lots, operated either by the agency or as a courtesy of a local dealer who turns the money over to the agency. Sometimes they are sold at auctions or on eBay. Call the local office of the charity and ask how they sell their cars.

Will the people who pray for salvation get salvation or shall be punished like others?
Q. I think this word salvation is just a paper transaction and this word 're-birth' is also paper transaction.
Asked by Dalilp Singh w - Mon Sep 22 22:01:50 2008 - - 12 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There is not even paper involved in it. It is a false hope held out to the gullible. Nature chooses and disposes without consideration other than time, place, opportunity, and available method. It is our duty to avoid these and frustrate the attempt.

What Christian church denomination asks for a tithe for membership or salvation?
Q. I am curious to know what denominations or christian churches require a tithe for salvation or for membership, or maybe for both.
Asked by hvacrjohn - Tue Sep 15 18:10:47 2009 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments

A. Well, there's the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God. They say donations are voluntary, but in the past they have taken part in all kinds of strange stuff, like charging money for "miracles"... Apart from that no christian church asks for money in exchange for salvation. If you want an example of a non-christian religion, you always have scientology. In that religion, the only way to learn more and come closer in their path to enlightement is to pay for their courses, which become increasingly costly as you get higher in "knowledge".

Why do items have high prices in the Salvation Army when it is supposed to help the needy?
Q. I have several bags to donate but not sure if I should just put them on the freecycle site instead of taking them to the Salvation Army. The last time I went to donate things at the store, I seen the price on some of the stuff and I thought it was high for used stuff. I thought they were supposed to help the needy. Now I'm debating if I should just put my stuff on the freecycle site versus taking it to the Salvation Army.

A. Hi MsLady, Sorry to tell you, but Salvation Army is not an organization that helps the needy. They are an organization that helps men who are down on their luck... drug abusers and alcoholics as well as ex-cons and men who are on parole. They have a 12 step program to help these guys get back on their feet. It is suppose to be a christian organization and even have Salvation Army churches. The guys live in the SA facilities for free while going through the program... they are also required to work in the SA stores for no pay. They get their food and clothing supplied to them as well as professional counseling and medical treatment if it is needed. The prices on the donated items are controlled by the General or whatever they… [cont.]

How many gifts to buy for Salvation Army Christmas tree?
Q. We chose a tag from the Salvation Army Christmas tree and now I am confused about how much to spend. We don't have a lot of money to spend but I wanted my daughter to pick someone off the tree to help out at Xmas. I was under the impression that you bought one gift. The info sheet we picked up said that there was no minimum but people usually spend between $60-70 per person. Will we be the only ones to buy this child any presents? I just want to do this the right way.

Why do people avoid eye contact with the Salvation Army bell ringer?
Q. I volunteer to ring the bell for the salvation army. Lots of people keep their head down or walk around. Why not just a smile and hello even if you can't donate?
Asked by Suzie Q - Fri Dec 1 11:07:52 2006 - - 33 Answers - 1 Comments

A. Wow - what a great question. I find myself not donating as well, and I do not make eye contact with the bell ringer. That constant ringing is just like someone saying to me, "You must donate. You must donate." I actually cringe when I hear the bell, because I know I am not putting money in the bucket, and I know I have to confront the bell ringer. Sadly, for me, many people who are simply looking for handouts and refuse to work to help themselves are the recipients of a lot of people's hard-earned money. I do know that there are many, many truly needy people out there. But sadly, the bad ones spoil it for them. There was a woman I knew that used to cook two Christmas meals. One for her family, and one for a "family in need." One… [cont.]

How do you calculate your tax deduction after making a donation to The Salvation Army?
Q. I am going to make a donation to the Salvation Army of clothes, some appliances, and bed sheets. I am moving to a smaller place so I'm taking the opportunity to clean up my old belongings. I went to the Salvation Army's website and printed the price list they have and I have made my own list pricing everything according to their list and the condition of the items. So, now do I add up everything and that would be the amount that i would get deducted from my taxes? If not, how does it work? TIA

Q. I've heard some people saying the Salvation Army doesn't donate all the donations they collect. I've seen people scorn the volunteers, I should know because I was one of the volunteers that was scorned, and insulted.

A. I don't understand why people are so nasty to one another. Maybe people who scorn the Salvation Army are those who really feel guilty because they have not and will not help others. Or could it be that they feel that no one was there for them when they were down and out. Or maybe just because there are alot of mean people in the world who are selfish and self-absorbed. No wonder people from other countries hate us so much.

Will the Mormon church be the salvation of the US Constitution?
Q. The US government is almost bankrupt, corruption, we call evil good and good evil. The constitution is already hanging by a tread with the whole gay marriage and church and state debates. What do you think of the prophecy that the Mormon church will be the US Governments, Constitutions salvation?
Asked by Troll Hunter - Tue Jan 13 11:24:59 2009 - - 20 Answers - 0 Comments

A. This 'prophecy' was reported by only two members of the church, Edwin Rushton and Theodore Turley, approximately ten years after Joseph's death. Unfortunately, the only accounts of this supposed prophecy were provided second-hand years after the Prophet's death, and cannot be corroborated. However, based upon the available information, two things are clear... It is clear that the prediction is that Latter-day Saints would support and uphold the government, not take over the government. It is absolutely clear that this is not a prophecy that is considered in any way true or binding on the membership of the Church - and, supposedly this prophecy was given as a parable. It's meaning then could be interpreted in different ways.

A. Julius Caesar came to power through the use of his image as a populares or popular politician representing the masses and through his military victories over the Germanic tribes in Gaul and his victories in Egypt. Like his uncle Marius, Caesar championed the popular causes of the plebian classes of Rome and championed the settlement of Rome's troops to give them land to settle. This put him at odds with the senatorial patrician classes, who controlled Roman politics. Caesar was an outsider in Roman Politics. While he did have patrician blood, Caesar's familiy were never senators But had to attain political power and prestige by other means.
